NYC Reopening Update- December 3rd, 2020, NYC will reopen schools in early December after closing them in November due to rising cases of COVID-19. Some elementary schools and pre-K programs will resume classes on December 7. Staten Island must meet the state's criteria in order to reopen. The 7-day COVID positivity rate is now 3.9%. A few cases of dogs tested weak positives of Coronavirus but no evidence they can transmit to humans directly and infect humans with the virus. At this time, there is no evidence that pets, including cats and dogs, play a role in spreading COVID-19 to people. The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person, typically through respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, or talking. At this point, there is no evidence that animals can transmit coronavirus to humans.
