Updated December 17, 2020: NYC has seen a surge in COVID-19 cases, with a positivity rate of 4.2% last week. NYC could be facing a shutdown shortly after Christmas, according to Mayor de Blasio, if NYC residents don't wear masks, stay home when sick and social distance. There are some restrictions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and avoid a lockdown. These restrictions include a maximum gathering size of 10 people, as well as restaurants and bars to close indoor dining. A total of 42,900 doses of the Pfizer vaccine have arrived so far. New York City expects a total of 465,000 doses in December.
